What is VIPCA?
The Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association(VIPCA) is the non-profit 501(c)(6) founded to meet the demands of the VI marine industry and to foster its growth. VIPCA’s work includes facilitating affordable health & yacht insurance, compliance guidance, a local marine directory, broadening transient mooring availability, and improvement of Customs clearance as well as freedom of passage between the Virgin Islands. VIPCA also internationally represents the charter yacht industry at the annual USVI Charter Yacht Show, Day Charter Conference and Marine Expo mid-November at Yacht Haven Grande.
What is the Marine Rebuild Fund?
VIPCA established a 501(c)(3) charity arm called the Marine Rebuild Fund(MRF) to provide an avenue for marine environmental protection and youth training. In June 2018 VIPCA ran its inaugural six week “Marine Apprenticeship” offering Virgin Islands youth training in the marine charter industry. A mentorship and scholarship program will follow these apprentices to careers as captains and crew. A marine trade school was the next on the agenda. In partnership with VIPCA, “My Brother’s Workshop– Marine” was created and there now is year round MBW Marine Vocational Trainingprovided forat-risk youthin marine maintenance services.
