Great cottage for a peaceful getaway
We just stayed for 10 days and had a remarkable time. The cottage is very efficient, having a futon and a king sized bed. Almost all time was spent on the covered porch. The kitchen is well equipped and there was plenty of room for my 2 daughters and I. We brought most food from the states and mailed dry goods in advance of our visit. I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone wanting some true island flavor. We did not miss having AC, and the mosquitos were easily manageable using bug spray.
The Peaceful Cottages experience was definitely an adventure! We did not
realize we needed to bring bottled water, for example, but we enjoyed
our time there very much indeed. Trevor was a most accommodating host,
and Jackie and Ying-Yang paid us many welcomed visits.
When we arrived at the driveway, I understood why Trevor insisted a 4x4
was required, the driveway is rough and very steep. By the end of the
week, I was used to the crazy roads across the whole island and the
driveway was not much of a bother. The outdoor kitchen was interesting
and we spent the vast majority of our cabin time out there enjoying the deck.
We visited 3 months after the hurricane hit and there was much
devastation, Trevor's yard alone had a massive pile of debris, from
downed trees and such. Still the Island was just beautiful. I tried to
take pictures of destruction, but the pictures just turned out pretty
and green. Just like the scenery, the people seemed to have bounced
back. There was much reconstruction and the people were not downtrodden,
but happy and carrying on with their lives. I found it all to be
inspirational. We heard from more than one source that 2018 will be a
great year to visit the island, as tourism will probably be low, so less
crowded beaches, and that all of the locals will be so happy to see
tourists. We had happy and friendly service everywhere we went. Viva
A word of advise, if you are a delicate flower, stay at a resort, but if
you really want to experience genuine Island Life, Peaceful Cottages are
